Hi! And welcome!

I’m Diane. My mission is to spread joy and beauty while also educating myself about the bigger picture I’m aware of in different seasons of life. Making art is my way to be present and not miss the moment at hand.

Currently I’m working on a garden series, which has me following the thread of how important pollinators are in our web of life. Each flower offers the nectar of life alongside its beauty.

If we didn’t plant in our gardens and parks to support the pollinators, they would have a much harder time surviving. We need them to thrive and pollinate the plants, otherwise we will have no food. I’m studying our human relationship with pollinators and how intertwined it is with human survival.

I hope you enjoy looking around here.

POETRY

The art of presence,
the presence of art

I’ve been keeping journals since I was ten, but after a life-changing car accident in 1999, my writing took on a new role: healing. I began combining words and images, creating prayers on the page to help my body and spirit mend.

My poetry, like my paintings, is a practice in presence—but not the passive kind. It’s a call to awaken. Each poem is an offering: sometimes a breath of beauty, sometimes a spark that stirs the soul. Whether gentle or fierce, every piece is rooted in the desire to help us see more clearly, feel more deeply, and wake up to what truly matters.

Here you’ll find poems from my books and new ones as they emerge. I hope something here meets you and moves you.

My Process

Each painting begins as a quiet invitation. I step into my studio—sacred ground—and open the space with presence and intention. Music stirs movement in my body, and from that movement, marks begin to flow—scribbles, lines, gestures—guiding the way forward.

I work in layers, following curiosity, trusting mystery, and allowing the piece to speak. It’s a dance with spirit, a dialogue with the unseen. Some days I write a prayer or intention; other days I simply listen. Paint, pencil, colour—all come together as I respond to what’s emerging.

This process teaches me to trust the unknown, to keep going when things look lost, and to honor the timing of each piece. Eventually, something true reveals itself—and I know the painting is complete.
