Calling All Angels
Calling all angels,
that’s you and me
to sing our songs
that say we belong,
that we are full of dignity.
Calling all angels,
that’s you and me,
to love with all your might
to never give up the fight
to stand for what is right,
what is humane,
not just living for profit
and gain with billions
already in the bank
still we can give thanks
for abundance that abounds
and surrounds us.
Calling all angels
to lend a hand when you can,
to veer from your plans
to help the elder cross the street,
make sure she is stable on her feet,
or look someone in the eye
and see they, too, want to cry
for this place, this planet
we call home. We are not
alone.
Calling all angels,
that’s you and me,
to dance your dance,
bring life a new chance
every day in every way
And to say nay
to the bloated billionaires
who clearly don’t care
and yet dare to try and fill us
with fear, and yet it’s clear
our light cannot be diminished
and we, angels, will never
be finished spreading light
in the darkness of night
in the brightness of day
because we are here to stay
lighting the way.
So, angels, do your thing,
bring your songs and sing.
